There is something so intimate and special about capturing natural family moments as they unfold – no posing or prompts. The Zelenak Family wanted just that. Carly, the glowing pregnant mama wanted their candid in-home family session to capture life as it is right now as a family of three. Their sweet little girl was a little unsure of me at the start, but she slowly grew more comfortable as she nestled into mom and dad and they enjoyed activities together, while I photographed them just being together. 

Candid In-Home Family Session

I love that they wanted a very true to life type session. I enjoyed following them around their beautiful home in San Antonio, TX as they played on the floor of their living room, read stories in her nursery, and even baked together as a family.  While it’s important to capture those everyday moments that are special, like your little one snuggled in your lap as you read a book, it is also fun to incorporate something new that you can experience together. For this session, I suggested that they bake together as a family since they had never done that and it was a huge success. Not only did it distract this sweet little girl from my presence, but they made some amazing memories together that I was able to capture. Photographing family activities and seeing parents engage with their babies is always a highlight for me. 

Their family session was even more special as it took place in their home, surrounded by comfort and familiarity. In-home sessions are perfect for families with littles or newborns, as it allows them to be more relaxed knowing that everything is within reach. I also love that the images will have an extra layer of sentiment having been taken in the special spaces of their home.   

There is nothing better than capturing a family at home enjoying each other and making memories. If you are a mom with young children, capturing a slow Saturday morning as you nestle in together reading, sitting at the dining room table coloring together, or even playing outside in the sprinkler or kiddie pool together creates the most beautiful, candid images that you’ll treasure forever.
