What to Expect at Your In-Home Family Session

Wondering what to expect at your in-home family session? When you book an in-home session, my goal is always to capture your family exactly as you are in the place you love most. Home is where the little moments happen every single day, and it’s those moments that deserve to be remembered. That’s why before your session, we’ll start with a quick consultation so I can get to know more about your family. I’ll ask questions like what your kids love to do, what feels most you, and how your family naturally spends time together. It can be painting, reading books, pillow fights in the living room, playing a game at the kitchen table, eating ice cream on the front porch, or snuggling up together.

For the Angrove family in Boerne, TX, their session looked like a perfect day at home. The boys started out on their playset in the backyard, laughing and climbing. Later, mom and dad pushed them on the swing. The pure joy on their faces was something I’ll never forget.

Once we headed inside, things slowed down in the sweetest way. The boys played songs for me on their little keyboard before choosing a book to read with grandma on the couch. I loved that grandma joined in for this session. Then came a living-room pillow fight with mom and dad, complete with giggles, tickles, and bear hugs.

Before every session, after deciding on an activity, I’ll also help you choose the best spots for lighting in your home. Don’t stress about this at all! I’ll guide you through everything! Whether it’s a cozy corner by a window or your favorite room where everyone naturally gathers, we’ll find the perfect spaces. What’s most important is that everyone feels comfortable. Once those nerves settle, then we can focus on making magic in your home together.
