Studio sessions often get a reputation for feeling formal or “stuffy,” but I’m here to lovingly break that myth! This casual studio family session with the Edwards family was anything but that. It was relaxed, joyful, and full of connection, and it quickly became one of my favorite studio sessions to date.
This session took place at my light and airy studio in Bulverde, TX. It was extra special because the Edwards family were my 2025 Christmas Card Winners. Every year, I run a friendly contest for families who send us a Christmas card, entering them for a chance to win a complimentary session with me the following year. This is one of my favorite, and most fun, traditions! I love seeing all the smiling faces coming in through the mail around the holidays. Picking a family for a complimentary session also allows me to see past clients, which is always such a treat. I absolutely loved seeing the Edwards family again!
A Casual Take on Studio Family Portraits
Beth chose to go with a simple, casual wardrobe for their studio session with everyone in blue jeans! I instantly loved it. The classic denim look paired so beautifully with the soft, white tones of my studio space. It felt incredibly timeless.
Mom and dad, along with their two adorable kiddos, were just the sweetest together. There was no pressure to perform or pose perfectly. We laughed, they snuggled, and we let the kids be kids, which is exactly how I want all my sessions to feel. Studio sessions don’t have to feel stiff. In fact, I prefer the opposite. My studio is a space where families can relax, interact, and truly enjoy their time together while having fun.
Adding this casual look of denim along with their natural interactions made for the sweetest family portraits. If this session proves anything, it’s that casual studio sessions deserve more love. Let’s have a little more of this for 2026, please!
