Hanson’s rainbow baby newborn session was special for so many reasons. I first met Morgan and her husband, Hayden, when I captured their heartfelt maternity session. It was a beautiful session that both honored the memory of their first baby boy, Harrison, and celebrated the upcoming arrival of their son, Hanson Lane. You can read more about their inspiring story here. During their maternity session, Harrison’s presence was deeply felt, and Hanson’s newborn session was no different.
Rainbow Baby Newborn Session
Having made his debut on January 14th, I was lucky to capture Hanson in the hospital for an intimate fresh 48 session. A short time later, I photographed this sweet rainbow baby’s newborn portraits in the comfort of their family home. I am so glad we did, as Morgan mentioned to me that she never had professional pictures of Harrison’s nursery, so I knew I had to capture Hanson’s newborn portraits in this very special room.
Big Brother’s nursery had a fish theme, and they decided to keep the room the same for his sweet baby brother. We started out the session planning to use the kitchen and nursery, but about halfway through, we all felt like the nursery was the only spot that needed to be captured. It was full of so many memories and emotion, but also hope and joy. This space, once created for Harrison, now holds the legacy of two brothers—one watching over from above and the other just beginning his journey earthside.
One of my favorite images is the rainbow colored vehicles surrounding Hanson in the bassinet. It was such a unique way to incorporate a rainbow for this sweet rainbow baby boy. Capturing these moments for Morgan and Hayden was more than just photographing a newborn session; it was about honoring their story—their heartbreak, their healing, and their incredible love for both of their sons.
I absolutely adore this precious family. It was a privilege to witness this family’s strength and resilience firsthand, and an honor to capture and preserve these memories for them.
