Just, wow!!! This beautiful in-home lifestyle newborn session of sweet little Josephine and her parents in their downtown San Antonio home was perfect! Their home has the most gorgeous natural light flooding in from windows, which created the ideal environment to capture soft, candid moments. It was a dream setting since I don’t use lamps or other artificial lighting during in-home sessions, and rely solely on the natural light from windows. The light here was abundant and we used it to our advantage.

Natural Light In-Home Sessions

Natural light is essential for creating those timeless, light and airy images. To achieve this look and ensure the best lighting for your photos, I typically schedule in-home sessions in the morning. However, when scheduling sessions, I always talk through the best time of day based on your preference and the lighting in your home. I know every home is different, and I’m here to make sure we find the perfect time to capture the best light for your space AND capture the best moments of your family.

What If My Nursery is Dark?

Don’t worry! I always work with the light that’s available, and if the nursery is too dark for portraits, I’ll still include the beautiful details and precious elements of the space you’ve created for your little one. If needed, we can move to other areas of the home for portraits. Usually the master bedroom, living room, and kitchen have good light, but we will seek out any other area in your house that provides the BEST natural light.

Wardrobe Matters

Another important element of any session is wardrobe. For the best results, I always recommend soft, neutral tones for clothing-think white, cream, light pink, and dusty blues. These colors not only look great with natural light and photograph well, but they also prevent color reflections on your skin, which can happen with darker or brighter colors. Jose and Jordan did a fabulous job following my wardrobe guide, incorporating soft tones with just a touch of color. Their outfits perfectly complemented the light and airy feel of their session.

Jordan took advantage of the professional hair and makeup service I offer for all my sessions. Suzanne Syrek Artistry did an amazing job and has been my go-to for the last five years! Suzanne pampers all my moms and comes directly to your home, so you don’t have to travel or worry about a thing. With a newborn at home, the last thing you need is extra stress. Plus, getting your hair and makeup done helps you feel confident and relaxed for your session.
